Michigan’s Children Art Mural Competition: Being a Kid from Michigan

Michigan’s Children recently moved to a brand new location and we want to add the missing touch – youth! What better way to incorporate young people than to place their special artistic talent within our new office space! Our art mural competition will run from March 16, 2026 to May 1, 2026! Must be submitted to info@michiganschildren.org by 11:59pm May 1, 2026.

Our aim for the Art Mural is to have 3 designs to visualize what it’s like to be a kid from Michigan. We are accepting graphic designs from Michigan youth, ages 5-18, who have been involved in the following systems:

  • Juvenile Justice
  • Foster/Kinship Care
  • Mental health
  • Youth who’ve experienced homelessness
  • Special Education
  • Students w/ Disabilities

Three youth’s artwork will be selected for our official art mural! The award tiers are as follow:

  • Older tier:
    • Age: 14-18
    • Mural location: Front window facing Michigan Ave. (See Art Mural Contest Document for photos)
    • Awards: $500 gift card to store of choice, Framed art copy, Publicity w/ parent or guardian authorization (feature in blog and on website)
  • Middle Tier:
    • Age: 10-13
    • Mural location: Rear conference room ((See Art Mural Contest Document for photos)
    • Awards: $250 gift card to store of choice, framed art copy, publicity w/ parent or guardian authorization (feature in blog and on website)
  • Younger tier:
    • Age: 5-9
    • Mural location: Rear conference room ((See Art Mural Contest Document for photos)
    • Awards: $150 gift card to store of choice, framed art copy, publicity w/ parent or guardian authorization (feature in blog and on website)
