Bianca Miles, LLMSW, Michigan’s Children’s Child Welfare & Education Policy Associate (she/her)

Bianca Miles, LLMSW, is Michigan’s Children’s Child Welfare & Education Policy Associate. In this role, she advocates for policies that improve K-12 education, child welfare programs, kinship/foster care, behavioral health, juvenile justice, and more! A graduate of Wayne State University (2021) and Western Michigan University (2020), she obtained her degrees in social work with aspirations to pour back into the community that helped raise her. Having the opportunity to work with youth from across the state, she always finds a piece of herself in every young person she gets to meet. Her work is a constant reminder that there is still much goodness everywhere she goes.

Previously, Bianca worked with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network as their Youth Involvement Specialist. In this role she engaged with youth and young adults in Wayne County’s System of Care, advocated for youth voice at all system levels, provided youth employment opportunities and led DWIHN’s Youth United program. Her proudest moment in this role was spearheading Youth United’s 20th anniversary celebration, which led to significantly increased awareness of the group and youth advocacy work in Wayne County.

Bianca has been a member of the NAMI Detroit Board of Directors since March, 2022, focusing on increasing awareness of mental health and acting as an active voice for youth in the community. Bianca is also a member of Transportation Riders’ United, an advocacy group dedicated to ensuring everyone in Southeast Michigan has access to public transit. Additionally, she’s a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and represents everywhere she goes. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, being a plant mom and listening to music.
