A caregiver’s economic status has profound implications for children. Poverty in early childhood, or exposure to poverty for long periods at any point in childhood increases children’s risks of being in poor health throughout their lives.¹

Michigan’s Children advocates for policies that help strengthen caregivers, because we know it will improve outcomes for children. Here are some of the issues we advocate on:

• Living wage jobs
• Paid sick leave
• Housing
• Adult education and retraining
