Facts about Medicaid in Michigan:
- 45% of births in Michigan are covered by Medicaid¹
- Children in small towns are rural areas are more likely than those living in metro areas to rely on Medicaid/CHIP for their health insurance
Large cuts to Medicaid are being discussed now at the federal level. Final decisions on the size and shape of the cuts may take months. Protecting this program for Michigan kids and families will take a sustained effort from advocates. Legislators need to hear from you now, next week, next month, and the month after that… we hope you’ll join us in advocating for this program that impacts our kids, families, schools and hospitals!
We’ve designed a series of postcards and social media posts – and we’ll keep adding new designs and facts to help you educate your representatives. Please help us spread the word! And if you know an organization that would hand out postcards (amounts of 25 or more), please contact Michigan’s Children (info@michiganschildren.org) – we’d be happy to send you a stack! Post online or through the mail every week!
