Detroit KidSpeak: Youths Speak Out On Improving Neighborhoods
Posted 10-15-09
Fears about aging out of foster care, finishing high school, and staying safe while at school were key concerns shared by Detroit area youths at today’s Detroit KidSpeak® public policy forum at City Hall.
More than 40 youths from The Skillman Foundation’s Good Neighborhoods Initiative areas within the city of Detroit spent the morning educating local and state policymakers and other community leaders as to how they can work together to improve life inside Detroit neighborhoods and schools.
Michigan's Children is a statewide, independent
voice for children and their families. We work with lawmakers, business
leaders, and communities to make Michigan a place where all children
have the opportunity to thrive.
Our Priorities
Michigan's Children, through our Board of Directors, annually establishes priorities that guide our administrative and legislative advocacy. We use those priorities in our work directly with policy makers and to assist community leaders, parents, youth and others to advocate on their own behalf.
