Welcome to the Michigan’s Children Newsroom.  We welcome media inquires and are eager to share information about our organization and our advocacy work on behalf of children.  This section was designed to help you learn more about us, critical issues impacting our children today, and what’s new with Michigan’s Children.

You also can read all of our press releases and news stories that include information from or quote Michigan's Children.

As a statewide, independent voice for children and their families, our mission is to make Michigan a place where all children have the opportunity to thrive.  Michigan’s Children engages in legislative advocacy on behalf of children in three priority areas:

  • Supporting Families with Young Children
  • Ensuring a Successful Transition to Adulthood for At-Risk Youths
  • Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Child Well-Being

In addition to interviews surrounding legislative advocacy as it pertains to children, Michigan's Children staff are available to serve as expert sources and provide commentary for timely news stories on topic such as:

  • Child welfare
  • Child abuse and neglect prevention
  • Parenting education and support
  • Infant mortality
  • Early childhood education
  • Budget issues and legislation affecting children and families

Our Mission
Michigan's Children is a statewide, independent voice for children and their families. We work with lawmakers, business leaders, and communities to make Michigan a place where all children have the opportunity to thrive.
Our Priorities

Michigan's Children, through our Board of Directors, annually establishes priorities that guide our administrative and legislative advocacy.  We use those priorities in our work directly with policy makers and to assist community leaders, parents, youth and others to advocate on their own behalf.  View or download the Michigan's Children's 2010 Policy Agenda
