We are all very busy. We have families, we have jobs, we have a lot of responsibilities. We want to know how to impact changes in ways that fit with our lives. Michigan's Children can provide tools for becoming more effiecient and effective advocates for children and families.

In addition to working directly with legislators and other policymakers, Michigan’s Children also works directly with organizations, community leaders, parents and youths by providing them the tools they need to effectively advocate on their own behalf. These tools include:

  1. Providing timely information on legislation and policy issues affecting children.  Find out more by clicking here.
  2. Alerting community advocates of opportunities to influence state and federal decision-making.  Find out more by clicking here.
  3. Providing training on how to become an effective advocate.  Find out more by clicking here.
  4. Providing forums for legislators and other policymakers to hear young people describe the problems facing children and youths for their perspective.
  5. Providing data to community leaders so they will better understand how local children are faring.  Find out more by clicking here.

Michigan's Children works to make data, policy and program information accessible and useful to local advocates and service providers. Advocates use Michigan’s Children’s resources to help make information heard by decision-makers and used to change policies and practices that affect children and families.

Michigan's Children staff is available with data or other technical support to help local groups and individuals: amplify local efforts taking place around children and families; draw attention to successful programs and initiatives; draw attention to important issues; and help to frame policy and other advocacy work. Communities take advantage of this resource through local partnerships, trainings, presentations and individual information requests.

Our Mission
Michigan's Children is a statewide, independent voice for children and their families. We work with lawmakers, business leaders, and communities to make Michigan a place where all children have the opportunity to thrive.
Our Priorities

Michigan's Children, through our Board of Directors, annually establishes priorities that guide our administrative and legislative advocacy.  We use those priorities in our work directly with policy makers and to assist community leaders, parents, youth and others to advocate on their own behalf.  View or download the Michigan's Children's 2010 Policy Agenda
