Meet the staff of Michigan's Children

michele Michele CoreyVice President for Programs. She has created numerous opportunities for local advocates to become better informed about children's issues and communicate effectively with local-and state-level policymakers. She is currently responsible for a statewide dropout and recovery initiative focused on producing multiple pathways to graduation by growing better data about young people and the systems that serve them, providing better educational options for young people, and building public support for policy and practice that sustain those options. She also helps policy makers and local communities use the information available through the Kids Count project to improve planning and decision-making about children's services. beth Beth Berglin, MA Policy and Outreach Associate. Beth works primarily on issues related to out-of-school youth in Michigan. She collects, evaluates and synthesizes information related to legislation and policy issues affecting children.  In addition, she creates reports and issue briefs for policymakers, the media and the public.  She helps disseminate information to Michigan's Children's constituents through our website and provides advocacy assistance and support to federal, state and community partners as needed. jacqui Jacqui Broughton, LMSW  Policy Associate. Jacqui works on racial and ethnic disparities in outcomes for Michigan's children.  She raises public and policymakers awareness of disparities and increases civic engagement in state budget and public policy debates with a focus on communities most affected, including low income communities and communities of color. cc China Cochran, MA Managing Editor of Our Life in the D (OLID). China manages a journalism project that teaches teenagers and young adults in Detroit skills related to researching, writing, the creation of video or audio reports and other communications skills. OLID will produce weekly pieces for Web-posting or broadcast, stories that are related to the issues affecting the children of Detroit, as defined by Michigan’s Children and its partners. Jamie is primarily responsible for creating and implementing fund raising strategies to further the organization’s mission. Working with the CEO, staff and the Board of Directors, Jamie helps individuals and organizations invest in the future of our state’s children. Senior Policy Associate.
