Community neighborhoods all over the city of Detroit are working to make their neighborhoods better places for children and families. Neighborhood teams are rallying around agendas for change, and working to make those changes reality. Michigan's Children is helping to enable that change to take place. As part of The Skillman Foundation's Good Neighborhoods Program and The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan's Detroit Neighborhood Fund, Michigan's Children is helping to identify community issues, establish a policy agenda and advocate for change in the targeted neighborhoods identified by each group.
Special Projects
Michigan's Children works in collaboration with several Detroit-based partners on Special Projects designed to engage elected officials with neighborhoods residents and youth on issues that are important to them.

The Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan's Detroit Neighborhood Fund is supporting efforts led by residents and capable community organizations and institutions that will help make a model of urban living in Detroit’s near-east side, an area bounded by Woodward to the west, McClellan to the east, I-94 to the north, and the river to the south, with priority given to the area closest to the east riverfront.

The Skillman Good Neighborhoods
The Skillman Foundation's Good Neighborhoods Program encourages the creation of safe, healthy, and vibrant neighborhoods where children – with the support of caring adults, programs, and experiences – can develop fully in the Brightmoor, Cody/Rouge, the Northend, Osborn, and Chadsey/Condon and Vernor areas of Southwest Detroit.
