Michigan’s Children’s Heroes at Sunrise is an annual event that celebrates individuals and corporations who, through their involvement in the community, support children, families and our organization, Michigan’s Children. The concern, interest and actions of the honorees demonstrate their genuine commitment to the children of our state. Read more.

Since 2000, Michigan’s Children has held a special legislative recognition benefit called Much Ado About Something Wonderful. Each year this recognition event brings together the governmental affairs community and distinguished legislators who help us strive toward our vision of making Michigan the best state in America to be a child. Art & Advocacy

Michigan's Children is proud to partner with the family of the late Nolan Ross, a former editorial and political cartoonist with the Detroit Free Press, to sell some of his most popular and prolific drawings.

Mr. Ross’s imaginative, humorous and insightful illustrations delighted readers of the Free Press, the Buffalo (NY) News, and the United Auto Workers (UAW) publication Solidarity until he retired in 1988. The Detroit native, and graduate of Mumford High School and the Center for Creative Studies died in 1997 of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a genetic brain disorder. He was 54.

“Nolan’s talent was immeasurable,” said Jack Kresnak, President & CEO of Michigan’s Children and a former Free Press colleague. “His cartoons are quirky, meticulously detailed and lifelike. He blended the good naturedness of a Walt Disney cartoon with the sardonic silliness of a Mad magazine comic.” Read more.
